Why EVERY fitness program needs to include REST & RECOVERY

Here are 3 things to get your self-care on so you can look, move & feel better in your body this week:

Educate yourself in health
Whether you’re training for a big event, restoring your wholecore, or just working to get fit and strong, make sure that rest and recovery are part of your self-care routine. While it can sometimes feel like a waste of time, rest and recovery is essential if you want to see results and feel good in your body. It becomes even more important with each passing year because as we age our bodies aren’t as resilient. You know what I’m talking about - you’ve probably noticed that when you push yourself physically (intense exercise, binge watching ‘til 2am, those extra glasses of wine) it's a lot harder to recover from now than when you were in your 20s.

So you know that rest is time spent not training or sleeping, but what is recovery? It’s any technique or action that helps your body to repair itself on every level - muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, nervous system, digestion, etc. Recovery can come in many forms including stretching, yoga, massage, restorative yoga, hydration, nutrition, heat & ice therapy, physical therapy, and acupuncture. Practicing these techniques on a regular basis will increase your performance, help prevent injury and make your recovery time shorter. Bottom line, if you want to feel good DO NOT SKIP REST AND RECOVERY!
