My Fitness Story

My fitness journey began at the age of 10 with Tae Kwon Do, where I quickly became hooked on the strength and confidence it gave me. Over time, my martial arts community inspired me to take up running and hiking. These three activities were my fitness pillars through my 20s. However, a head injury in class led me to leave Tae Kwon Do and shift my focus to yoga, another movement practice that made me feel amazing - body, mind, and soul.

After the birth of my first child in 2003, I transitioned from a career in data analytics to becoming a postnatal yoga instructor. However, returning to fitness post-childbirth presented unexpected challenges. It became even more difficult after my second child. Before getting pregnant, I had no idea how carrying and delivering babies would forever change my body, especially my core and pelvic floor. And I wasn’t alone. My yoga students and friends shared similar stories. While I still loved practicing yoga, it wasn’t enough to make me feel whole again.

It became my mission to help myself and other moms restore our bodies after childbirth and beyond. Over the next decade, I trained extensively in core strength vinyasa, Pilates, pelvic floor yoga, self-massage, and functional fitness specifically tailored for mothers. I studied and collaborated with pelvic floor physical therapists. Combining all this learning, I founded WholeCore Fitness & Self-Care in 2015 and began teaching moms how to restore their core, pelvic floor, and total body fitness using a holistic and integrative approach that blends breathing, yoga, self-massage, and functional strength training.

Since then, my experiences with perimenopause, menopause, breast cancer, and osteopenia have led me to pursue additional certifications in personal training, menopause, and women’s health coaching. Now at 54, my focus for myself and my clients is on longevity and finding joy in movement. Through holistic fitness and health coaching, I educate, empower, and inspire women to thrive, not just survive, from motherhood through menopause.
